Starting a Vegetable Garden For the First Time
Almost 2 months ago I decided to finally start my own garden and I’m so glad I did! If anyone else is thinking about it, just go for it! Even if you don’t have a yard or don’t have much space, you can always get a small resided bed or just grow in pots!
As our foods are being sprayed with more pesticides & coasted with weird things like the new Apeel coating (look this up if you haven’t heard of it), it’s more important than ever to control where our food comes from. Whether it’s growing it ourselves or supporting our local farmer’s market, I truly believe the healthiest food we can eat will be the one grown locally.
I bought a 4”x4” raised bed, lined it with raised bed liner, and filled it up with soil. I bought a few plants in pots, and also planted a few seeds. I bought all my supplies and plants from Home Depot!
I’ve been learning so much about gardening by just experimenting, and I definitely have some things I’ll be doing differently next time! It also just feels so good to be connected to nature and to be able to go pick fresh herbs of vegetables to use in my dinners 😌
I read Jessica Soward’s book The First-Time Gardener: Growing Vegetables, and it was super useful! Let me know if you have any questions or are considering starting a garden and I’d definitely love to help! 🫶🏼
Look at the image below to see how much it grew in less than 2 months!! I’m so excited for a summer filled with fresh, organic produce grown in my own backyard.
