Breakfast Quinoa

Health Fun Fact

Quinoa is a really healthy grain to include in your diet! It’s a complete source of protein (meaning it has all 9 essential amino acids that your body needs), it’s super rich in fibre (which is what helps improve your digestion and keeps your bowel movements regular), and it’s a great source of iron, magnesium, manganese, and riboflavin!

I love my breakfast oats, but sometimes I like changing it up, and breakfast quinoa is a great way to do that! It’s still just as customizable as oatmeal is, but it has a different consistency than oatmeal does, which I find nice when I want to change things up a little!

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup quinoa (I like buying sprouted quinoa because it has more available nutrients and is easier to digest)

  • 1/2 cup milk (regular or nut milk works)

  • cinnamon

Toppings:

  • apricot

  • strawberries

  • greek yogurt

  • peanut butter

  • hemp hearts

  • cacao nibs

  • almonds

  • coconut flakes

  • milk

Instructions:

  1. Add quinoa, milk and cinnamon to a pot, and bring to a boil. Then cover the pot and reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes. Make sure that it doesn’t boil over, and I’d recommend stirring occasionally

  2. Once the quinoa has absorbed all the liquid, transfer to a bowl, and add all of your desired toppings!

  3. At the end, I also like adding a little more milk - enjoy! 😊
