Turmeric Latte

Health Fun Fact

The active compound in turmeric is Curcumin, which is a natural anti-inflammatory compound that helps fight inflammation in the body! It’s also an antioxidant, which means that it fights free radicals in your body! Both of these properties make it a great support to your immune system. The compound Piperine (found in black pepper) actually helps the absorption of Curcumin by 2,000%, so that’s why you should always add black pepper whenever you’re using turmeric!

Recipe

Servings: 1 latte

Ingredients:

  • Milk of choice (I like using organic, grass-fed whole milk - if you like using milk alternative, make sure to buy one that doesn’t contain any fillers, sugars, stabilizers, or sunflower oil)

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey (or more depending on how sweet you want it)

 Instructions:

  1. Cut In a small pot, mix together all the ingredients, and stir them together. Bring to a simmer, and leave for a few minutes

  2. Optional: If you have a milk frother and want a frothier texture, froth the milk before pouring into a cup

  3. Pour into a cup, top with some more cinnamon and black pepper

Note: if you use regular milk, once heated the milk will create a thin film on top - don’t worry that’s totally normal and still good to drink!

If you want other ways to incorporate turmeric into your diet, I love adding it to my scrambled eggs, salad dressings, or using as a spice on chicken! Enjoy 🤍
