No Bake Banana Oat Bars
Health Fun Fact
Refined sugar causes a huge spike in blood sugar, which then cause a huge spike in insulin levels. This creates a roller coaster effect on your insulin levels in your body, which in the long run can cause inflammation in the body and diseases like diabetes. This roller coaster effect happens all day long if you start your day with refined sugar, and it can be what causes sugar cravings through the day. Because these squares are refined sugar free (sweetened just from the bananas), that means they can also make a delicious breakfast since they won't spike your insulin levels and cause a sugar crash like a refined-sugar dessert would!
These healthy no bake banana oat bars are naturally sweetened by the bananas, vegan, gluten-free, paleo and absolutely delicious! The perfect pick-me-up afternoon snack, they take about 20 minutes to whip up, and don’t require any baking!! You’re weeelllcome 😋
Recipe
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas (the riper the better)
2 cups rolled oats (I use gluten-free)
1/2 cup almond flour
1/2 cup almond butter
2 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsp flax seeds
1/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
Mash up your bananas in a big bowl, and literally just combine all the ingredients together, mixing as you go haha easy peasy
Add parchment to a dish of your choice - I think the pan I used is 9”x13”, but the batter isn’t runny, so you can spread it out to be as small or large as you want - meaning you can make the bars as thin or thick as you want! I wanted more bars (I made 20), so I spread it out pretty thinly
Place in the freezer for an hour for it to set, and then store in the fridge.
Once hardened, cut up into squares (hopefully more even than mine lol), and store in the fridge. Enjoy! 💛
